Description
BEHealthKit is a middle-ware utility developed to allow Unity Engine projects to be able to interface and read/write data from Apple’s HealthKit Framework, ideally for mobile iOS development.
History
BEHealthKit was born out of a brainstorming session Mike & Scott had during one GDC. The initial impetus has been long since lost to the sands of time, but the idea was for a semi-idle mobile game that would use your phone’s pedometer to power a factory.
At the time, there were three main players in the mobile market: Apple, Google, and Microsoft. With his background in iOS development, Scott decided to start with that. Since there were no plugins to hook into HealthKit for Unity, BEHealthKit was born. Several years later, while the initial game never fully took off, BEHealthKit has taken on a life of its own.
